Bomb threat aimed at Swiss consulate general in New York
The Swiss consulate general office in New York was evacuated on Wednesday after staff received a telephone bomb threat. However, a search of the building found no explosive device and staff were able to return to work, the foreign ministry told the Swiss News Agency.

According to security protocol, the consulate building was evacuated straight after the bomb threat was received on Wednesday morning local time. Staff at the Swiss UN missionExternal link, who are located in the same high rise building on Third Avenue, Manhattan, were also instructed to clear the building as a precaution.
New York police officers then conducted a search of the building and declared it safe once no device was found.
No details were given about the exact nature of the threat, including potential reasons why the Swiss consulate general would have been targeted. The Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed to the Swiss News Agency Keystone-SDA that normal operations have been restored and that there had been no injuries during the incident.
