Skiing Sherpas
Nepalese mountain guides, skilled at taking clients up Mount Everest and other huge peaks, are retooling themselves as guardians of a new ski culture in Nepal.
Since last year they have been learning to ski by following in the tracks of Disentis-based Swiss mountain guide Ervin Jacomet and renowned French extreme skier Anselme Baud during training on mountain slopes in Switzerland, France and India.
