‘Every vote counts – including yours’
It's a tradition for the president to address the roughly 750,000 Swiss who live abroad for Swiss National Day. In her speech, President Simonetta Sommaruga urges the Swiss to vote in the parliamentary elections in October.
Sommaruga describes Switzerland’s system of direct democracy as unique and courageous. She calls on the Swiss abroad to get involved politically and to cast their vote.
