Galenica sales pass billion-franc threshold
Galenica Holding, the pharmaceuticals distribution company, says its six-month sales figures have pushed through the SFr1 billion-franc ($565 million) threshold for the first time.
Net profit rose 22.9 per cent to SFr27.7 million. Based on the results, the group sounded an optimistic note for the year as a whole.
"Galenica expects that its full year 2000 profit will be over 10 per cent higher for the fifth time in a row," said a company statement.
Galenica plans to expand its purchase of pharmacies and expects to own around 20 by the end of the year, up from the current figure of 17.
It also intends to intensify its e-business activities over the next three years while reducing its dependence on wholesaling.
