Swiss Federal Railways said on Wednesday that southbound trains on the Gotthard and Simplon routes would only go as far as the Swiss towns of Chiasso and Brig respectively.
Passengers should expect long delays if travelling within Italy or from Italy to Switzerland, the company said.
