Big Day Around Geneva

We decided to try to knock out the entire border around Geneva today. The weather will soon be changing for the worse, so I'm eager to get started.

We had a vast number of border crossings, most of them had no guards at all now that Switzerland is part of the Schengen zone. The days of systematic passport checks are now over, making travel back and forth considerably easier, especially on a bike.

We made it around to the Rhône, where a local told us we could find border stone number one on the shore. We eventually found it and I snapped a few shots.

Today was gorgeous, and the biking terrain around Geneva was idyllic. When we pulled into Hermance, the last town before the French border, I hoisted my bike up over my head. Time to get in a boat again. The end of stage two of my Swiss borders project is just a few thousand paddle strokes away!
