Report details Swiss toilet habits
A new survey of Swiss toilet habits reveals that women visit the lavatory more often than men.
The survey, commissioned by a leading toilet paper manufacturer, suggests that women pay a visit to the toilet on average five times a day, while men rush to answer the call of nature only three times every 24 hours.
The results of the study also indicate that though men may go to the lavatory less, they spend more time on the toilet per visit than the opposite sex.
The statistics reveal that men spend roughly five minutes on the toilet per visit, while the average for women is only three and a half minutes.
More than a third of those surveyed admitted they used the time on the toilet to read books, magazines or letters.
Five per cent of those questioned said they made telephone calls from the lavatory. Four per cent said they smoked, while just two per cent revealed they completed crosswords while sitting on the toilet.
Pollsters from the market research institute IHA-GfM compiled the data based on interviews conducted last December with 500 people from across the country.
