A new star has been found nine billion light-years from Earth, with help from scientists at the University of Geneva and Lausanne's Federal Institute of Technology. “MACS J1149+2223 Lensed Star 1”, or Icarus for short, is 100 times more distant than the furthest stars studied so far.
