Iran’s president to attend Geneva summit
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran is to take part in a United Nations anti-racism summit in the Swiss city of Geneva next week.
Organisers confirmed that Ahmadinejad will attend the controversial five-day meeting, which known as Durban Review Conference.
The Geneva summit has been overshadowed by concerns that it could become an anti-Semitic forum.
Ajmadinejad has publicly denied the Holocaust and called for the annihilation of Israel.
So far at least ten countries will be represented by heads of state, prime ministers or other senior government ministers, according to conference officials.
Israel and Canada have announced they will not participate in the meeting, while the United States said it was reconsidering its planned boycott.
The Swiss government has yet to decide on its attendance.
