Well, we have junk food induced deseases, oxycontin epidemics, not to mention a lot more in the pharma and food industry, the polluted environment with pesticides, plastic and toxic substances which should have never been approved for release into the market, and on top of that guns leading to mass shootings, wars and poverty. All of these in some way went through some sort of scientific research and governmental, founded by corporates magically followed by the respective governmental regulatory approvals. Corporations funding in science and education represents direct conflict of interests. Corporations have lucrative interests, so they should not fund anything in a way that they can drive or have any say about it.
Money makes the world go round. Schools and school leaders are not exceptional superhumans or super-righteous. Conflict of interest checks and balances must be in place. That is what we can do, without killing the funding of our schools. Corruptions must be dealt with harsh punishments, including imprisonment and ban from educational jobs.

The financing of universities by private companies must be followed by the financing of independent democratic control structures that ensure transparency and the possibility of investigation. But the problem also arises when it is the state that, in its appointments to senior university posts, favors candidates who defend neoliberal conceptions.

Le financement des universités par des entreprises privées doit être parallèlement suivi d'un financement de structures démocratiques de contrôle indépendantes assurant transparence et possibilités d'investigations. Mais le problème se pose également lorsque c'est l’État qui dans ses nominations à des postes universitaires élevés, favorise les candidatures défendant des conceptions néolibérales.
