第20回目となる「欧州文化遺産の日」のテーマは「炎・光・エネルギー」。これにちなみ、ベルンにある国立馬事センターの装蹄(そうてい)場を訪れた。ここでは、現在も昔と変わらぬ手法で馬のひづめに蹄鉄(ていてつ)が打ち付けられている。
このコンテンツが公開されたのは、
国立馬事センターは、連邦軍厩舎(きゅうしゃ)が閉鎖されたことをきっかけに、1997年に創設された。現在、厩舎で飼われている馬は約200頭。ここで蹄鉄を打たれるのは同センターの馬だけでなく、軍馬、訓練馬、個人所有の馬、動物病院で治療を受けている馬など様々。蹄鉄には、工業製品以外にも、手作りのものが使用される。(写真:クリストフ・バルジガー、swissinfo.ch、文:ベルン国立馬事センター)
