Horse court holds off on Olympic yea or nay

Keystone

It will be October before Switzerland knows whether or not it will be bumped up to the bronze medal position in the Olympic team show jumping event.

Four horses, including one from Norway’s bronze-medal team, were provisionally suspended for doping with a pain-relieving substance during the competition earlier this week.

But the Court of the International Equestrian Federation will take weeks to render a final decision.

The federation will test the second blood samples this weekend.

All parties have until September 8 to petition the court, which is expected to deliver its verdict on October 6, or 28 days after the last hearing.

Switzerland came fourth in Monday’s team competition. The United States finished first, ahead of Canada.
