Abandoned woman dies

A woman mysteriously dumped outside a hospital in northeastern Switzerland around three weeks ago – later identified as a 43-year-old Macedonian – has died.

Police inquiries discovered that the woman, suffering from cancer, had been living illegally for some time at an acquaintance's home in the nearby town of Kreuzlingen.

Authorities at Münsterlingen Hospital found the woman in the car park emaciated and wrapped in a blanket, but because she could not speak, her identity remained a mystery.

Her partner later admitted to dumping her there "out of desperation".

Her medical expenses were covered by Kreuzlingen and canton Thurgau, with contributions from private donors and foundations.
