Ambri have leapfrogged over rivals Lugano to grab top spot in the Swiss ice hockey league. The home side won the match 3-2 thanks to two goals from the Czech Tomas Vlasak.

Fribourg climbed up into third place comfortably beating Kloten 3-1 and registering their sixth consecutive home victory in the process.

Davos, who welcomed back Swiss international Reto von Arx this week, dropped a place to fourth after going down 1-2 at home to Bern in front of a record 11,832 spectators.

Rapperswil also failed to make any ground on the leaders, succumbing to a surprise 2-4 home defeat to Langnau Tigers, who scored twice in the final quarter.

Zurich Lions’ resurgence after a miserable start to the campaign came to an end at the hands of bottom club Chur, with Sweden’s John Witehall doing the damage with two goals in the final two periods.

While over in Lausanne, a seven-goal thriller saw Zug snatch victory in overtime with a goal from Pascal Müller. Lausanne were leading 3-2 until the 59th minute when Patrick Fisher equalised for the visitors.
