Ambri opens up four point lead at top of table

Ambri Piotta have beaten Fribourg to strengthen their position as leaders of the national league ice hockey rankings.

The Ticino team opened up a four point lead by beating their lower-ranked opponents 1-0 at home on Saturday night. Ambri now top the tankings with 14 points.

Fribourg – on seven points – are three spots from the bottom of the table, in ninth position. Meanwhile, Berne – ranked behind Ambri with 10 points – drew 1-1 with Davos.

The others with the same amount of points as the Bernese team, Zug, also drew against their opponents: the final score against Langnau was 1-1.

Rapperswil-Jona, ranked fifth, thrashed bottom-of-the-league La Chaux-de-Fonds 5-3 at home, while Chur and Kloten drew 4-4.
