Ammann loses ground in ski-jumping

Swiss ski jump Olympic champion Simon Ammann has had to settle for second in the third stage of the Four Hills Tour and has lost his overall World Cup lead.

First placed Gregor Schlierenzauer collected 251.1 points (130 m/122 m) to Ammann’s 237.8 (128.5/117.5) in Sunday’s event in the Austrian resort of Innsbruck.

Ammann, of St Gallen, pipped Finland’s Janne Ahonen on 237.4 (128/117,5) but slid back to fifth overall in the Four Hills standings with one event left, in Bischofshofen, Austria, on Wednesday. Austria’s Andreas Kofler currently leads, ahead of Schlierenzauer.

On Sunday Schlierenzauer overtook Ammann in the overall World Cup lead with 611 points to the Swiss’s 609.
