Saturday's Swiss football action saw Basel climb into second place, level on points with league leaders Lugano, following a 4-2 win over Servette Geneva.

Basel were forced to come from behind, after a lacklustre first half performance saw Christian Gross’s side heading into the break 2-1 down.

But the match was turned on its head within two minutes of the restart, as former Grasshoppers striker Muff first levelled the scores and then put Basel ahead.

Tholot then added a fourth goal to ensure Basel’s fifth league win in a row.

Saturday’s only other match saw an unexpected away win for Aarau over UEFA Cup contenders Lausanne. Pierre-André Schurmann’s team seemed to be thinking of Thursday’s trip to Ajax as they suffered a 3-1 defeat.

For Aarau it was an important victory, lifting them above the cut-off line for the relegation/promotion play-offs. Lausanne have now gone five league matches without a win.
