Bronze medal for Swiss water skier

The Swiss waterskier, Sébastien Di Pasqua, has taken third place in the jump contest at Britain's European waterskiing championships in Lincoln. Monday's victory is the first on an international level for the Geneva athlete.

Di Pasqua came in third with a 63.8 metre jump, right behind Denmark’s Jesper Cassoe and Britain’s Jason Seels, who achieved the best performance, with 65.4 metres.

The Swiss waterskier had come out fifth in the preliminary heat of the jump contest, before finishing third on Monday.

Switzerland’s 1999 European champion, Christina Muggiasca, was less successful than her compatriot. Although the Ticino woman came second in the slalom’s preliminary heat, she finished sixth in the final.

In the figure skiing competition, Switzerland’s Daniel Käppeli reached seventh position in the final.
