Bucher sets record in Stockholm

Bucher has set two record-breaking times in four days Keystone Archive

Switzerland's André Bucher has won the 800 metres event at the Stockholm international athletics indoor meeting in a record-breaking time of one minute 45.32 seconds.

Bucher came in 0.33 seconds ahead of the Kenyan David Lelei. South Africa’s Johan Botha was third.

Bucher’s time broke the national record again just four days after the Swiss athlete of the year shaved 1.9 seconds off the previous fastest time set by Markus Trinkler 12 years ago.

Thursday’s winning performance was proof, if any was needed, that all Bucher’s indoor training has paid off. Only the Russian Yuri Borsakovskiy has achieved a faster time than Switzerland’s top athlete this year.
