Chapuisat available for country
Veteran football star Stéphane Chapuisat is ready to play for Switzerland again after apparently ending his dispute with national coach Köbi Kuhn.
Along with international team-mate Stéphane Henchoz, Chapuisat walked out of the Swiss camp ahead of last September’s World Cup qualifier against Luxembourg. The two players were angered at being left on the bench for the previous, crucial game against Yugoslavia.
On Wednesday, however, Chapuisat appeared to resolve his differences with Kuhn.
Following a meeting between the two men and football association official Ernst Lämmli, the Swiss FA said that the 32-year-old striker had made himself available for future internationals.
Chapuisat was reported to have added that the country’s younger players should be given priority for the upcoming European Championship qualifiers, but that he would be ready to play if asked.
