Cuche third in German world cup super-G

Switzerland's Didier Cuche has scored a podium finish after he came third in the men's World Cup super giant slalom race in Germany. The fine finish will give an added boost to his World Championship hopes which kick off on Monday.

Austrians once again took the top two places on the podium. Christoph Gruber came first while Hermann Maier came second.

The weekend’s races at the resort of Garmisch have been regarded as important preparation for the World Championships due to get underway shortly in the Austrian resort of St Anton.

On Saturday, Switzerland’s Franco Cavegn, came third in the World Cup downhill skiing race in Garmisch.
