Disappointment in Davos for Swiss cross country skiers

Finland's Mika Myllylä collapses in exhaustion after Wednesday's win Keystone

Switzerland's cross country skiers were unable to take any home advantage when the world cup competition came to Davos on Wednesday.

None of the Swiss men were able to figure in the points following the 30 kilometre classical race, which was won by Finland’s Mika Myllylä. Wilhelm Aschwanden was the best placed of the home favourites, finishing in 44th spot.

Switzerland’s women fared slightly better in their 15 kilometre discipline, with both Laurence Rochat (27th) and Brigitte Albrecht (28th) scraping into the points.

Russia’s 30 kilometre Olympic champion Julia Tchepalova won the event, beating Norway’s Bente Skari Martinsen by less than four seconds.
