Doris Leuthard and her Turkish counterpart, Taner Yildiz, made the statement during talks in Turkey.
Leuthard and Yildiz also discussed the Trans Atlantic Pipeline. Swiss power company Laufenburg is directly involved in the project.
Leuthard, who also holds the transport, communications and environment portfolios, held talks on these issues with various Turkish government representatives.
The discussions touched on financing of large railway projects, preparations for December’s climate conference in South Africa and an exchange of know-how on responding to natural disasters.
