The Swiss-Austrian bid is now on the world wide web. Swiss-Austrian bid website

With exactly one year to go before the UEFA decision on who will host the 2008 European football championships, Switzerland and Austria have taken their joint bid on to the Internet.

The Swiss and Austrian football associations have launched their website in four languages (German, French, Italian and English) with the aim of increasing awareness about their campaign.

Found at www.austria.switzerland-euro2008.com, the website gives details on the eight proposed stadiums and sets out the reasons behind the Swiss-Austrian bid.

Among Switzerland and Austria’s main rivals to host the 2008 event are a joint bid by Greece and Turkey, a four-nation alliance of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden, as well as possible individual bids by Scotland and Hungary.

Bidding nations have to submit their dossiers to UEFA by the end of May 2002, with European football’s governing body set to make its final decision in December of the same year.
