Rafael Nadal has won his fifth French Open title beating Robin Söderling of Sweden 6-4, 6-2, 6-4.

The win in Paris on Sunday means the Spaniard reclaims the world number one ranking from Swiss rival Roger Federer, who now slips to number two.
Nadal chased down shots all over the court with an aggressive tenacity to avenge his lone Roland Garros defeat to Söderling in the fourth round in 2009. Federer went on to beat Söderling in the final.
Söderling, though runner-up now two years in a row, had his revenge against Federer as well. The powerful Swede knocked the Swiss out of the clay-court tournament during the quarterfinals on June 1 with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 win.
Nadal, the tournament’s number two seed, has now improved his record to 38-1 at Roland Garros.
Federer lost the number one ranking after holding onto it for 285 weeks, one week shy of meeting Pete Sampras’s record of 286 weeks at number one.
