Fourth medal for Swiss shooters

Estelle Preti received the silver medal in the 300 metres prone Keystone

Switzerland's Estelle Preti has won the country's fourth medal at the world shooting championships in Lahti, Finland, with a silver in the 300-metre prone category.

The markswoman from Murten was unfortunate not to walk away with the gold, after registering 99 of a possible 100 points in the final round to compile an impressive total score of 593.

Denmark’s Charlotte Jakobson managed to go one better, however, scoring perfect marks in the final round to set a new world record total of 594 points.

Preti’s dropped point also denied Switzerland the team bronze with Sweden finishing just in front of the fourth-placed Swiss.

Two of Switzerland’s previous medals at this week’s championships came in the junior categories. Marcel Bürge grabbed the country’s first senior medal of the tournament with victory in the 50-metre rifle, three positions discipline.
