The Swiss ice-hockey champions, Lugano, will be aiming to add some more silverware to their trophy cabinet this weekend when they host the final tournament of the European League.
The Ticino side play their semi-final match against Sparta Prague this evening, and they will be counting on some vociferous home support to see them through to the final. The other game pits the reigning champions, Metallurg Magnitogorsk of Russia, against the Finns of Turku, themselves former winners.
Lugano are considered the underdogs against the experienced Czech side. But they have shown outstanding form this season, going 25 matches unbeaten at their Resega stadium, and will be quietly confident of scoring an upset.
