Hober pays price for wretched season
La Chaux-de-Fonds ice hockey club have dismissed their Swedish coach, Dan Hober, with immediate effect. The news came just days after the end of the regular season, which saw the Neuchâtel side firmly rooted to the bottom of the National A league.
After winning just four of their 44 matches in the regular season, La Chaux-de-Fonds were the first side to drop into the relegation playouts. Assistant coach Michel Lussier will now be in charge of the club’s fight to avoid an immediate return to the B league.
Hober had been coaching La Chaux-de-Fonds since last April, but was unable to live up to the high expectations placed upon him. A former national coach for Denmark, the Swede enjoyed his best moments in Swiss ice hockey in the mid-eighties, winning the league title twice with Davos.
