Ice hockey’s big guns draw at the Resega

Zurich goalie Sulander keeps Lugano's Bozon from scoring Keystone

In a delayed match from the eighth round of the championship, Lugano and Zurich Lions came away from the ice with a one all draw. The Ticino club spent much of the game catching up with an early Zurich goal.

The season’s first duel between last year’s championship finalists saw Salis open the score for Zurich in the ninth minute. Lugano were playing with an extra man at the time.

The “Bianconeri” took two whole periods in front of their home crowd before replying to Zurich’s lone goal. Fuchs, taking a pass from Bozon, managed to mystify Sulander, the Lion’s goalkeeper, in the 48th minute.

Extra time failed to produce a sudden death victory for either side.

Zurich have now played 11 successive games without losing. They are leading the championship, with 22 points and 15 games played.

Ambri are second with 19 points. Chur and La Chaux-de-Fonds close out the league table.
