John Harlin falls, injures feet

John Harlin, the American mountaineer following Switzerland along its border, has taken a big fall.

Initial checks reveal he has fractured both feet. More tests will be carried out which will decide whether his trip around Switzerland should continue, be postponed or stopped.

In his immediate diagnosis sent to swissinfo.ch from the mountain, Harlin thought he might have broken a rib.

The accident happened while Harlin was hiking in the mountains of canton Valais. He is being treated at the hospital in Sion.

The adventurer, who otherwise is in good spirits, was on day nine of his planned three-month tour.

He has been reporting to swissinfo.ch on a daily basis with photos and videos.

More information will be posted as soon as it is available.
