Kratochvil’s problems continue

Swiss number two Michel Kratochvil has suffered another early exit on the ATP tennis tour, crashing out in the second round of the Arizona tournament.

Kratochvil hasn’t won two matches in a row since the second week of the year and was unable to buck the trend in Arizona, going down in straight sets (3-6, 4-6) to Spain’s Juan Balcells.

It was the first time in three encounters that the lower-ranked Balcells (ATP 123) had managed to get the better of his Swiss opponent.

Kratochvil is currently being coached by his former junior trainer Vojko Fersch after having dismissed Australian coach Neil Borwick at the end of February.

Former Swiss star and ex-Davis Cup captain Jakob Hlasek is set to join Kratochvil’s coaching staff in time for next week’s Tennis Masters Series tournament in Indian Wells.
