Krueger’s men lose out to Czech Republic
Switzerland suffered a blow to preparations for the upcoming ice hockey world championships on Saturday after being defeated 3-5 in a friendly match against the Czech Republic.
Only twenty-four hours after beating the Czechs 4-2 in the first leg of the two match series, Switzerland failed to live up to expectations against a galvanised opposition.
After an initially strong start to the match, the Swiss failed to recover from a Czech attack which saw their opponents steal three goals in the space of just 11 minutes.
Swiss coach Ralph Krueger was unable to call upon any players from Lugano or the Zurich Lions, who were busy with their own playoff match on Saturday evening (see separate story).
