Swiss success in the Engadine Ski Marathon
Seraina Mischol has won the 41st women's Engadine Ski Marathon, making up for a bad season in which she has been plagued by health problems.
Victory in the men’s race went to the Italian Fabio Santus. The Swiss Curdin Perl, one of the favourites, came third.
Runner up to Mischol was the 44-year-old veteran Norwegian athlete Hilde Pedersen, with the Swedish Susanne Nyström in third. Mischol’s winning time over the 42.2 km race at S-chanf in the eastern canton of Graubünden was one hour, 43 minutes and 32 seconds.
Santus came in at one hour, 38 minutes and 37 seconds.
The marathon is also open to the public. Around 11,000 people participated.
