Uefa prepares Euro 2008 tickets

The European football union, which is based in Nyon on Lake Geneva, has reported that the 1.05 million tickets for the Euro 2008 tournament are about to be printed.

Uefa said that everyone with group match tickets for the championships – hosted by Switzerland and Austria – would receive them two weeks before the opening game in Basel on June 7.

It added that those visitors with “Follow My Team Tournament” tickets for the knockout stage would receive vouchers to be exchanged for match tickets on site.

Uefa said each ticket would be bar-coded, among other security features, and would be scanned at the turnstiles.

It added that stadiums would open three hours before kick-off with a variety of entertainment on the programme to help spectators get in the mood.
