Lugano have held their position at the top of the Swiss National Ice Hockey League table with an 8:6 victory over Kloten. Following Saturday's defeat Kloten are now in ninth place in the league table standings.

Elsewhere Davos stormed to victory against Zug with a 5:1 win securing their sixth place position in the overall league table, with Zug trailing behind in seventh place.

Fribourg thrashed Langnau 4:0 putting the French speaking side in fifth place and their opponent’s in eighth place.

Ambri beat Rapperswil-Jona in a closely fought match 3:2 with Saturday’s victory putting Ambri in second place with Rappesrwil-Jona hot on their heels in third position.

Chur went head-to-head with Lausanne narrowly winning the match 5:4. But Saturday’s performance did little for the team’s standings with the side languishing at the bottom of the table in 12th place. Lausanne also had little to celebrate coming in just above Chur in 11th place.

Saturday also brought more bad news for defending ice hockey champions, the Zurich Lions, who took a beating against forth placed Bern.
The team from the capital whipped the Zurich side 4:0 adding insult to injury following Zurich’s defeat on Friday when they played arch rivals, Lugano.

Zurich Lions, who were very much at home at the top of the table last season are having to get used to a position further down the table in 10th place.
