Record Swiss presence at Berlin travel fair

Swiss Radio International's website - much in evidence at the ITB swissinfo.ch

The importance of Switzerland as a favourite tourist destination among the Germans is being underlined by the ITB travel fair in Berlin - the world's largest such fair - which got underway this weekend.

Switzerland Tourism has its largest-ever stand at the five-day event.

Apart from the organisation itself, aother 40 tourism and tourism-related groups have been brought together in the 550 square metre stand.

Exhibitors, including public services and hotels, are paying about SFr6,000 for the opportunity to show off their wares.

Swiss Radio International (SRI), which produces this website, is one of the exhibitors, and in line with its mandate of keeping the Swiss abroad informed of events in their home country, invited Swiss expatriates in Germany to a special function.

Switzerland Tourism will, among other things, be presenting new features on its internet site (MySwitzerland.com). At the same time, it will present a web site (www.switzerland.com), a portal site for Switzerland which includes such partners as Swissair, the federal railways, Presence Switzerland and SRI.

The importance of the German market rests not only on tourism. Germany is Switzerland’s largest export market in Europe.
