Schnyder through to last 16

Patty Schnyder faces Jennifer Capriati on Sunday Keystone

Switzerland's last representative at the French Open, Patty Schnyder, has made it through to the tournament's second week.

Schnyder beat Uzbekistan’s Iroda Tulyaganova in straight sets, 7-5, 7-6. The Swiss had a torrid time against her better-ranked opponent, needing an hour and 43 minutes to win the match.

Schnyder avenged an earlier loss against the same player, who defeated her in the Vienna tournament last year. The Swiss will now face the number one seed, American Jennifer Capriati, in the round of 16.
