The defence ministry said on Wednesday the search had resumed in the morning.
About 50 people are involved in the search operation, which is being conducted in the river and on land. They include army divers, and both army and civilian rescue dogs.
The missing soldier, who belonged to the disaster intervention unit, was putting up structures both on the bank and in the river ahead of a national boating competition to be held at the end of June.
The army has not released any details about the man. Nor is it clear whether his disappearance was linked to weather conditions: a violent storm passed over the area during the afternoon.
The man was on so-called “long service”, under which soldiers fulfil their military obligations in one go, rather than being called up for a few weeks each year.
