Last year's winner Servette has been thrown out of the Swiss National Cup 2001/2002.

Servette’s initial joy over their 3-2 victory over division one Wangen in a cup qualifier soon turned into an unexpected defeat.

The Geneva-based team, currently fourth in the league, were disqualified from the cup for putting Goran Obradovic on the pitch. The Yugoslav national was disqualified from playing due to misdemeanours in other Cup matches.

During a match against Yverdon in June this year, Obradovic received his second warning in a Swiss Cup game, which automatically banned him from playing in the match against Wangen.

Wangen will play Delémont at home in the eighth game of the qualifying round.
