In front of 5,600 spectators on Tuesday, Sion were the better of the two teams, keeping the ball in their possession most of the time. But the home side threatened Yverdon's goal only twice, with two free kicks.

Yverdon had the best chance of scoring during the match, thanks to Brazilian player Gil in the 53rd minute.

With the point from this draw, Sion are still seventh on the league table, with 19 points. But this gives them three instead of two points advance on Zurich.

Yverdon are in ninth place, with 16 points now, putting them behind Zurich but ahead of Aarau. All three teams have 16 points from 15 games. This was Yverdon's second away point of the season.

Sion and Yverdon will have tougher assignments this weekend. Sion take on Lugano at home, while Yverdon head for Basel.

Lugano lead the league with 31 points, ahead of a compact group made up of St Gallen, Grasshoppers, Lausanne and Basel. Lucerne and Neuchâtel Xamax are at the bottom of the ladder.
