Sion have lost at home to the Zurich Grasshoppers 2-0.

By winning Saturday’s match, the Grasshoppers sprang out of the Valais abyss, which has seen them lose every match played in Tourbillon for the past four years.

The Grasshoppers scored in both the first and second halves, playing consistently throughout. The first goal came in the 22nd minute when striker Petric blasted the ball into the back of the net off a pass from Spycher.

Sion fought hard against their opponents with Piffaretti, Moreira and Ekobo all narrowly missing the equalizer,

The Grasshoppers missed two goal chances in the second half with attempts from Nuñez and Chapuisat. Cabanas pulled a second goal out of the hat two minutes before full time.

Saturday’s victory marks the Grasshoppers fourth consecutive win and Sion’s eighth defeat in a row. The action left the league table unchanged with the Grasshoppers in second trailing Basel and Sion languishing at the bottom in eight place.
