Swiss snowboarder Manuela Pesko is on her way to winning the world cup in the halfpipe after finishing third in Gujo in Japan on Saturday.

Pesko has a lead of 600 points over her nearest rival, Soko Yamaoka of Japan, who came second in Gujo. There are three competitions left before the end of the season.
Pesko has already won the halfpipe cup three times, in 2003, 2006 and 2007.
In the men’s parallel slalom event Simon Schoch came fourth – his best result in a season which has been beset by injury.
The Swiss Iouri Podladtchikov, who heads the men’s halfpipe rankings, did not compete in Gujo but remains at the top after his nearest rival, Ryoh Aono of Japan came only 29th.
