The Swiss under-17 football team have routed Colombia 4-0 in the semifinals of their first World Cup tournament.

Battling 30-degree heat in Nigeria, the young Swiss played aggressively and with confidence, taking every opportunity to go on the attack. The scoreline could easily have been even less flattering for the Colombians.

The South Americans didn’t do themselves any favours when Arias was sent off for a handball in the area after only 13 minutes. Nassim Ben Khalifa converted the ensuing penalty and the Swiss didn’t look back.

Seferovic extended the Swiss lead in the 36th minute, Martignoni in the 50th and Rodriguez rounded things off in the 68th.

On Sunday evening the Swiss will play hosts Nigeria, who beat Spain 3-1 on Thursday.
