Top division teams lose in Swiss Cup action

FC Colombier (in red) won 4-2 during penalty shots against Neuchâtel Xamax Keystone

Three top division football teams, including St Gallen, Sion and Neuchâtel Xamax have been evicted from the Swiss cup.

St Gallen, who lost 3-2 in their away match against Wil, were unable to catch up the three goals scored by their second division opponents during the first half of the match.

The match between Neuchâtel Xamas and its third division opponent, Colombier, ended in a 2-2 draw. However, Neuchâtel then lost 4-2 in the penalty shots.

The same fate awaited Sion, who were playing against second division Yverdon. Despite playing for two hours, both teams remained tied at 0-0.

However, Yverdon took the advantage during the penalty shots, and eventually won 5-4.

In other football action, Lugano beat second division team Kriens 2-0. Lausanne won 3-0 against the third division team Servette II, and Young Boys won 1-0 against Vevey (third division).
