Wife of Saint Gallen killer expelled to Kosovo

The wife of a man accused of murdering a Saint Gallen schoolteacher has been expelled from Switzerland. Roze Gecaj was ordered to leave the country shortly after receiving a six-month sentence for violence.

A court in Saint Gallen had reduced an earlier two-year sentence, and freed Gecaj on the basis of time already served. She was released on Thursday, and re-arrested pending her deportation to her native Kosovo on Friday.

Her husband, Ded Gecaj, has admitted having stabbed to death his daughter’s schoolteacher, Paul Spirig, in January 1999. He has been in prison in Yugoslavia since February the same year, although the Swiss justice authorities do not know on what charges.
