Alphorn Impressions – Matthias Kofmehl, alphorn
Matthias Kofmehl studied French horn at the Zurich Conservatory. Between 1984 and 2000, he became a fixed-player with the Tonhalle Orchestra. Aside from his appearances playing the French horn, he focussed on giving alphorn concerts, most notably the 1987 Concerto for Alphorn and Strings, which was specially written for him by Swiss composer Carl Rütti. Matthias Kofmehl's alphorn courses are not only celebrated in Switzerland, but also in Germany, Austria and Russia.
