ABB wins Algerian order

ABB wins new business Keystone Archive

The Swiss-Swedish technology concern, ABB, has won a SFr160 million order ($93 million) to build a gas compressor station for Algeria's state-run oil and gas company, Sonatrach.

The new station will increase the capacity of the gas pipeline between Algeria and Europe from 8 to 11 cubic metres. The compressor station will serve the 1400-kilometre pipeline that runs from Algeria to Europe through Gibraltar.

The joint venture set up by ABB and Sonatrach will construct the station.

Sonatrach also hired ABB to build a SFr120 million oil pipeline last year.
