Croatia and Germany start Euro with wins
Austria, the other co-host of the Euro 2008 football championship, fared no better than Switzerland in their opening game on Sunday, losing 1-0 to Croatia in Vienna.

Luka Modric scored an early penalty, but despite a strong fight back Austria failed to equalise.
In Sunday’s other game, Germany started their campaign with a 2-0 win over Poland in the Austrian town of Klagenfurt.
Both goals were scored by Polish-born Lukas Podolski.
