Schlierenzauer beat Ammann on Saturday at Zakopane, Poland with 295.6 points on jumps of 140 and 134.5 metres.

A slight tailwind helped Ammann, the double Olympic champion in Salt Lake City, set a hill record of 140.5 metres. His second jump measured 134 metres but Schlierenzauer had better landings.

The Swiss finished the day with 288.1 points and saw his overall lead over Schlierenzauer drop by 20 points to 103.

Thomas Morgenstern of Austria, who also finished third on Friday, took the same place on the podium with 276.2 points.
