Buemi picks up a point in Chinese Grand Prix

Sébastien Buemi of Switzerland has finished eighth in Formula One's Chinese Grand Prix.

The result in Shanghai on Sunday netted the 20-year-old Buemi, who races for Scuderia Toro Rosso, one point.

Buemi, a newcomer to the world’s top racing circuit, had picked up two points for finishing seventh in the season opener in Melbourne almost one month ago. He has three points this season.

Sunday’s race on the 5.451km Shanghai International Circuit was won by German driver Sebastian Vettel, who dominated from start to finish. Vettel finished in one hour, 57 minutes and 42.485 seconds, averaging 155.480km/h over 52 laps.

Buemi finished one minute and 16.439 seconds behind.

Australian Mark Webber placed second, followed by points leader Jenson Button of Britain.

Heavy rainfall meant the first eight laps of the race were run behind the safety car, which returned on lap 20 after one of the string of collisions and crashes in the race left debris strewn over the track.
